Helping Animals in Need at a Social Distance: AWLA Fosters

This past month brought unprecedented changes at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, requiring us to adjust nearly every day for the safety of our staff, our community and our animals. When we made the difficult decision to pause adoptions last week, our community stepped up for animals in need, sending a flood of inquiries about fostering animals, and thanks to our Awesome Fosters, every animal who needed placement was able to go to a foster home. While we do not need additional fosters at the moment, you can learn more about fostering with the AWLA HERE.

So how have our animals been enjoying their time since?

Marguerite, the bluetick coonhound in this photo, has been building her confidence thanks to the help of resident pups Pinto and Fern at her foster home. She’s been learning all about life around people and the comforts of living in a home.

Thank you to all of our fosters and our generous community who reached out ready to help animals in need. We couldn’t help as many animals as we do without your support!
