Puppy Peking

Peking-1 7/14/14 Update: You all have helped raise the funds needed for us to schedule Peking’s life saving heart surgery!

The surgeons could only give us an estimate for her surgery and predicted that it may be more especially with her aftercare – but from the amount of support we have received, we are confident we will raise enough to cover those costs. Therefore, we are going to be scheduling her surgery ASAP and will keep all of you posted on her progress, including the day of surgery, her recovery and her happy, normal life.

Thank you!

Peking-1 Puppy “Peking” has a broken heart.

Peking and her siblings came to us when they were only two weeks old. They were lovingly fostered with our friends at WOOFS! Dog Training Center LLC and all of them, except Peking, have been adopted and have gone to their new homes. Peking has always been a quieter puppy, and didn’t play as much as her brothers and sisters.

We now know why…

Peking has a congenital heart defect that is causing her blood to flow the wrong way through her heart This condition results in Peking’s blood being less oxygenated than normal. The result is weakness, tiredness, coughing, and exercise intolerance. Peking will likely die before the age of 1 year unless she has heart surgery to repair the defect. The surgery is extremely effective and Peking has a very high chance of having a normal lifespan and life if she undergoes surgery within the next few weeks.

Peking-2 The surgery would cost approximately $5000 – which is deeply discounted by our veterinary partners. We are hoping to find an adopter for Peking with the willingness to take on her surgical needs or to receive donations to our “Sarah’s Fund” that covers the cost of treatment for our shelter animals with serious medical issues.
