Two Days ‘Til the Great Puppy Games
The Great Puppy Games at AWLA

The Great Puppy Games are only two days away, and our 11 contestants have come so far.  They started life measuring their achievements in ounces of weight gained, and thanks to the care and hard work of their trainers at Woofs! Dog Training Center, these brothers and sisters quickly excelled in Attention, Sit and Down, and several have gone freestyle to learn additional tricks and skills.

Their hard work over the past eight weeks will be put to the test at the main event, this Friday, June 22nd at 7 p.m.  Space is still available to attend the Great Puppy Games, and your $20 donation gets you VIP access to the Games, including an exclusive “Winners’ Circle” meet-and-greet with all of the canine contestants where you will also have the opportunity to place an adoption hold on your favorite furry friend.

Contestant Roundup

Let’s see where “the cheeses” stand!

Asiago

Asiago has been working with trainer Jane, who reports he is proficient in Sit, mat work, leashed walking, and has earned the titled of Advanced Trick Dog through Woofs’ Do More With Your Dog program.  His tricks includes doing a barrel roll and pushing a puppy-sized shopping cart full of toys (pictured). Asiago’s trainer reports that he is a spunky, confident, happy little pup, who would be a perfect running buddy!

Cheddar

Cheddar has been working with trainer Carrie, and together they have maintained a secretive training schedule.  Their strategy is to take everyone by surprise on the big day, so you’ll have to attend the Games this Friday to see just what Cheddar can do!

Feta

Feta has been hard at work with trainers Jada and Ali and has learned sit and down, worked on crate time and learned how to push the puppy-sized shopping cart.  She’s been hard at work since Day One, so let’s see how much she has learned at the Games!

Gorgonzola

Gorgonzola, or Zola for short, and trainers Diane and Des have maintained a balance of work and play throughout the training process.  In addition to learning Sit and Down, honing his mat work and leash walking and taking a turn at the shopping cart, Zola has enjoyed a few field trips, meeting new people and dogs and getting his zoomies out in the yard.  Hopefully he’s rested, refreshed and ready to show us what he can do!

Gouda

Gouda has been working hard with trainers Marti and Kelly, successfully mastering Sit, Down and Come and gaining experience in her crate and with a harness and leash.  Her trainers report that she is very smart and has great attention for her age, so now we’ll see if she has was it takes to come out at the head of the pack this Friday!

Havarti

Havarti has stood out as a “top cheese” among Woofs! trainers, and with her own trainer Jane has shown her attention skills (even when her siblings are trying to distract her) and learned a few freestyle moves.  We’ll see exactly what Havarti has to show at the Games!

The Great Puppy Games at AWLA
Mascarpone

Mascarpone has been working with trainers Laura and Poe, who are also choosing a more secretive training strategy.  Mascarpone prefers to catch his siblings off guard when they see just how skilled he is.  All we have heard is that he know Sit, Lie Down and enjoys napping on people’s backs, but will it be enough to take home first prize at the Games?  We’ll find out on Friday!

Mozzarella

Mozzarella and trainer Jen have also been working incognito in the hopes of claiming the title of top pup by surprise!  Mozzarella has been seen working on sit with other pups and practicing mat work, but who knows what else he has in store. We’ll have to wait to find out at the Games!

Muenster

Muenster and trainer Cynthia have been hard at work, as you can see by her pro-level Sit.  She’s keeping mum about her other talents, so we’ll have to wait until the big day to see how she stands up against her brothers and sisters!

Provolone

Provolone and trainer Jan emphasized the importance of cuddles as part of a training routine.  Provolone excelled in crate training and nose work, all while getting a lot of time in at the agility course.  We’ll see if her hard work pays off at the big event on Friday!

Ricotta

Ricotta and trainer Melissa’s strategy has been to spend extra time on the agility course, in addition to perfecting his Sit and recall.  Let’s see if all of his extra work navigating the tunnels and obstacles will pay off in the Games!

No matter which pup you are rooting for, the Great Puppy Games is an event not to be missed, so get your tickets today. Best of luck to all of our contenders and their trainers, and thank you to our wonderful fosters and trainers at Woofs! Dog Training!
