“Tails” That End With a Smile

"Tails" That End With a SmileWhat is happier than a puppy with a stick?  Stories from our adopters!  We love to hear from all of our adopters, whether with questions about helping their new family member settle in or just to share some of the adorable moments they’ve already had with their new best friend.  Here are just a few of the “happy tails” our adopters have shared with us recently.

Flopsy

"Tails" That End With a SmileFlopsy, who now goes by Pepa, was always a confident feline.  She came to our shelter from rural Virginia and immediately made friends with her sweet meow and affectionate nature.  Pepa continues to charm her family just like she did when first meeting them.  Her family reports that she has helped them find all of the best sunny spots in their home, select a cat tower that matches their decor purrfectly and hunt all of those pesky toy mice who act like they own the place.  Pepa ends each day by sharing a pillow with her new family and clearly couldn’t be happier.

"Tails" That End With a SmileGouda

Gouda, now known as Ava, was one of eleven “cheeses” who were born at the shelter and raised by their awesome fosters at Woofs! Dog Training Center.  Ava and her siblings spent their time growing up training for the Great Puppy Games and learning skills like recall and sit and practicing on leash walking.  Ava’s dedication to her training, then and now, is paying off.  Her family says that wherever Ava goes she receives praise for being such a well-behaved puppy.  Coming from a family of 11 siblings, Ava has a new feline sibling, who, even though Ava is growing bigger by the day, will always be her big sister.  Ava and her family have enjoyed new adventures like visiting farmers markets and taking baths and are sure to enjoy many more in the future!

Zoolander and Mercury

"Tails" That End With a SmileZoolander and Mercury weren’t litter-mates when they came to the AWLA as stray kittens.  Mercury and her siblings had lost their mother and Zoolander was all by himself.  But thanks to their new family, they sure are siblings now!  They now go by Gracie and Midnight and are always side by side, whether they are keeping an eye on the local birds from their cat tree perch or taking a cat (kitten) nap.  In addition to each other, they have a canine older sister, who is getting used to sharing attention, toys and her water bowl with her new siblings.  When Gracie and Midnight aren’t snoozing, they enjoy play-wrestling and chasing one another around the house.  Their family admits to positively spoiling the two kittens and waiting on them hand and paw, so it sounds like these little, but quickly growing, kitties are loving life!

"Tails" That End With a SmileCaptain

Pip, formerly known as Captain, came to the AWLA as a friendly stray with a big smile.  Fast forward to today and Pip still roams around town but now while wearing his handsome harness and with his new best friend by his side!  Pip has been on adventures visiting the docks of Old Town and loves making friends with other dogs in his neighborhood.  His family says Pip is sweet, affectionate and (generally) well behaved, but his smile makes up for any preceding mischief!
