Mew Year’s Resolutions from Alexandria’s Animals

Every new year is a time to look forward to new beginnings and fresh goals, and Alexandria’s Animals do that as well!  Our adoptable animals at the shelter are starting of 2019 with some big goals:

Mew Year's Resolutions from Alexandria's AnimalsMeet a New Person Every Day

Hello, my name is Betsy.  I lived my whole life with my best friend, so once I came to the shelter I had a lot of trouble meeting new people.  I’m deaf and I can also be a little shy, but I’m learning to trust people…especially if they give me a little time and a lot of treats!  Making new friends can be a little scary for me, so now my goal is to meet a new person every day, and hopefully that will help me meet my new best friend, who I can bond with even more in our future home.

Hi!  I’m Comet!  My favorite thing is to run and play, but in 2019 I’ve decided to put my energy to good use and train up.  I’ve been praised for my running skills on the AWLA’s Fit with Fido runs, so I’d like to get in shape and eventually run a full 5K all at once.  I’m starting my training here at the shelter, but this year I’d also like to find a new best friend who I can run with every day!  Looking for a resolution buddy?

Mew Year's Resolutions from Alexandria's AnimalsBoost My Brain

Pancake and Toast here!  Although we have each other for company every day, this year, we’d like to enhance our mental fitness up with more interactive toys and new chews to try out.  We know how important it is to keep our noggins working so we can stay active and curious between naps, so in 2019 we’re open to trying all kinds of new activities!

Mew Year's Resolutions from Alexandria's AnimalsExplore the World Around Me

Howdy, I’m Nanny, and if you know me, you know that my favorite things are meandering strolls and long naps, but at 10 years old, I’ve decided it’s time to get out and see some of Alexandria.  I’d like to check out the river, visit some new parks and take in some of the sights, hopefully in the company of my new family.  I get along with just about every person, dog, child and cat that I meet, so in 2019 I’m going to get out there and see what there is to see.

Mew Year's Resolutions from Alexandria's AnimalsLive in the Moment

As the current Office Catministrator, every day is jam-packed with things like supervising the administrative staff, evaluating the functionality of every office chair and monitoring shelter traffic through my office window.  In 2019, my goal is to live in — and enjoy — each moment.  Whether I’ve found that purrfect lap for my nap or am ready to pin down that wand toy, I want to make the most out of each day and hopefully this will help me meet new people and maybe even my future family.

We’re so impressed by our adoptables’ resolutions that we thought we might follow their lead.  Just like Cali, in 2019, we also want to spend more time making the most out of our days…more time working with animals, helping in the community and making Alexandria a better place for its animal and human residents.  In order to do more “doing,” we’re going to move to a biweekly blog schedule, which means that going forward, you can expect to see a new blog from us every two weeks.  But don’t worry, because you can always find more great animal content on our Facebook page, Twitter account, Instagram and of course on our website.

Alexandria’s Animals have set their goals and we’ll be here to help them until they their future families arrive to help them do the same.  If meeting a new best friend is one of your goals for 2019, stop by the shelter today or ask about meeting our animals in foster care.
