Kitties with Seniority

Highlighting Our Longer-Term Residents

As an open-access facility, the AWLA takes in all animals from all over the City of Alexandria, and once they come to us, we do everything we can to find them homes. While some of our animals are with us for only days, others stay for longer, and we do not limit how much time they can spend at the AWLA as long as we think we can find them an appropriate placement.

For some of our longer-term residents, we have developed the “100 Day Stay Club.” This special category helps us realize that these animals deserve an increased level of exposure to tell our community about these amazing adoptable animals.

Currently we have three felines who are enrolled in our 100 Day Stay Club. Each is unique and special, and we want to connect these cats with their future families by telling their stories:

Mya is more of an independent gal—a fun, spunky and vocal feline favorite at the AWLA. She also spent some time with a foster family, who reported that she settled herself at home and loved waking at dawn with her foster mom. If you’re an early riser seeking a morning coffee companion, consider this kitty. View Mya’s profile page here.

Bob the Cat - Adopt Me at AWLA

UPDATE: Bob was adopted on September 30!
Bob is one big and bold boy in search of a new best buddy. Bob is partially blind, but he doesn’t let that slow him down! He gets around great and needs no special care. During a stay with a foster family, he used his litter box like a pro and took to the apartment in no time at all. Bob is the first kitty you’ll see when you enter the cat room at the AWLA, and even if he doesn’t see you come in, this friendly boy will meow a welcome.

UPDATE: McMuffin was adopted on October 3!
McMuffin
was f
ound as a stray outside a fast food restaurant and brought to the AWLA by an Old Town citizen. Like Mya and Bob, this senior recently returned from foster care where he received love, attention and all the toys you can shake a feather stick at. He enjoyed playing with the family cats, but is also happy to watch the world go by the window. McMuffin gets a lot of attention for his unique appearance—a curled ear and freckled nose—and he wants to use these traits to his advantage to help find his family.

We have strived to keep our cats engaged during their stay with us, including getting valuable home experience with our amazing fosters. Now Bob, Mya and McMuffin are hoping to extend these house stays. Will you help us find families for these 100-Day kitties?
