What: Celebrating the announcement of “Alexandria Love Your Pet Day” by the Mayor and City Council, local businesses will host a kick-off event, food trucks, children’s entertainment, demonstrations, and info tables along the block party route to engage the city’s pet lovers. At each stop, participants will perform an activity or learn a fact to receive a stamp in their passport –the first 100 completed passports can be turned in for a bag full of gifts from participating businesses.
The kick off will feature the “Alexandria Love Your Pet Day” proclamation and ribbon cutting, opening onto the block party route with a schedule of events (e.g. freestyle dance dogs, K9 officer demo, grooming tips, etc.). Food vendors, area non-profits, business associations and more will take part in this lively community event.
When: Sunday, April 23rd, 2017 11am-2pm
Where: The 2 blocks of Colvin St between Roth St and S Quaker Lane and the corresponding blocks on Duke St (across
from the Alexandria Commons Shopping Center). A welcome table, located in the parking lot of the Wholistic Hound Academy, will be equipped with event information, merchant and sponsor promotions, free giveaways, and more.
Attendees: Animal lovers of all ages seeking a day out and a shopping experience with their pets.
