Chester has been at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria for a very long time: After being adopted from us earlier in 2015, he was returned in September and has been waiting for a home ever since.
We recently sent Chester into foster care because he was growing weary of the shelter and didn’t want to eat. He’s thriving in a home environment, and we learned that a lot of the things we thought we knew about Chester weren’t true. We thought he didn’t like other cats because he hissed at them in the shelter, but in his foster home, he’s bonded with his foster brother Bandit and doesn’t even mind when his foster sister Cringle hisses at him! He was a little grumpy at the shelter, but at home, he’s affectionate and wants nothing more than to sit in a warm lap. We knew Chester had a lot of wonderful qualities (he’s got a fan club of staff and volunteers) and he’s showing more every day.
Chester’s adoption fee has already been paid through our Adopt It Forward program. He does have a history of urinary blockages and crystals, so he needs a special diet to prevent them, but is otherwise a healthy six-year-old cat.
