The Animal Welfare League is proud to team up with NBC4 and Telemundo44 and be part of the live coverage for the fourth annual Clear the Shelters event! This August 18, adoption fees for all animals will be waived as part of a nationwide initiative that seeks to help families find and adopt pets. Please note that all standard AWLA adoptions policies and procedures will apply during Clear the Shelters. We will be opening one hour early, at 11:00 am, to accommodate all of our extra visitors.
Last year, we found homes for nearly 70 animals as part of Clear the Shelters, and this year, we hope to once again connect dozens of animals in need with brand new families. Along with dogs and cats, this year we expect to have rabbits, guinea pigs, mice and more available for adoption at no cost. You can read more about what to consider when adopting a pet and welcoming a new pet into your home.
We are excited for the opportunity to reach new adopters through Clear the Shelters, but we also recognized that the care and treatment of our adoptable animals has real costs, such as medical exams and vaccinations, food, microchipping and more. Please consider pledging to “Clear It Forward” to help us defray some of these expenses, so we can continue to support of all of Alexandria’s adoptable animals.
You can choose to donate an amount per animal adopted or pledge a fixed amount to help us continue to assist all of our adoptable animals. All donors will be contacted by email on Monday, August 20, with information about the number of animals adopted and how to complete your donation. Please consider making your pledge now!
