Other Ways to Donate

Since 1946, the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) has been a resource for our community and a shelter for homeless animals. Because of the generosity of our neighbors, each year we care for more than 2,000 animals. We help animals find homes and we help keep beloved pets with their families during difficult times. 

The AWLA is a 501c3 charity organization (EIN: 54-0796610) that has been recognized for meeting nationally-recognized standards for efficacy and transparency.

• Support a Special Fund: Donate to Sarah’s Fund or Rosemary’s Seniors Fund.
  • Sarah’s Fund – Supporting extensive medical care for pets in crisis.
  • Rosemary’s Senior Fund – Supporting the medical care of senior-aged pets.
• Cover Adoption Fees: “Adopt it Forward” and make a difference by covering the adoption fees for shelter animals.
• Naming Opportunities: “Adopt the Shelter” to provide for the animals at the AWLA and see your name (or a family member, friend, or pet’s name) displayed on a dog dorm or cat condo at the shelter.
• Donate Food and Supplies: Donate food, pet supplies and other much needed items in-person, online, or by shopping at local stores.
• Fundraise for the AWLA: Raise funds by hosting a social media fundraiser or creating a unique giving page. You can also host a donation drive to collect material donations.

Donation Acknowledgement

• All donors will received a receipt for their donation. Online donors will receive an immediate email, while donations made by mail or phone will receive a receipt in the mail.

Donations are Secure and Private

The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria respects the rights and privacy of our donors. We do not sell or share donors’ personal information to any other entity. Donors are recognized in the organization’s annual reporting to the community. Donors wishing to remain anonymous should notify us of this at the time a gift is made.
