Vaccine and Microchip Clinics
Community Vaccine and Pet Health Events
Key to the AWLA’s mission is ensuring our community pets are safe and healthy so that they can remain where they belong … in their loving homes. To help make this happen we offer several events throughout the year to help pet owners with basic vaccinations, microchips, and more for their cats and dogs. From our monthly Vaccine Clinics to our Pets & People Community Wellness Events, we are working hand in hand to keep Alexandria’s animals in tip top shape.
Low-Cost Vaccine and Microchip Clinics
On the first Wednesday of every month we offer a drive-up, low-cost Rabies, Distemper and Microchip Clinics at the AWLA from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. These clinics require advance registration, and they do fill up quickly! The registration for each clinic opens at noon 10 days prior to the clinic date.

Please note that all distemper vaccines for dogs and cats will be valid for 1 year.
Pets & People Community Wellness Events
Our Pets & People Community Wellness events bring together organizations across the city to provide essential veterinary services, supplies, and education for pets and their owners, free of charge. They are held four times a year throughout the City of Alexandria to reach our community and their pets where they live!
The AWLA provides Alexandrians with free dog and cat vaccines for rabies, parvovirus and distemper — dangerous diseases that can cause discomfort, pain and even death in cats and dogs. Attendees can also take advantage of basic grooming and nail trims, pet food, behavioral advice, and more.
The events are held on a Saturday in April, May, September and October. Please check the event calendar for dates.
