So Many Homes for the Pawlidays

The holidays are often a perfect time for families to welcome a new pet into their home, which means our team at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria always enjoys a busy holiday season of helping animals meet their new best friends. And 2020 was no exception. This December, our friends at Priority Automotive paid the adoption fees of all animals 6 months and older, so we were working at full capacity all month long to help adopters meet animals while following best safety practices. Adoption by appointment continues to show that even though we can only let one family into our shelter at a time or even if that family can only meet their new best friend over Zoom, animals are still finding loving homes. 128 animals so far, in fact.

Tank was our longest-stay pup, and we were determined to help him find a Home for the Pawlidays. A big guy who loved his toys, we couldn’t believe that Tank was still with us after nearly three months, but Tank thought it was worth waiting for his best friend because now he looks so happy in his home!

While so many animals headed home from the Vola Lawson Animal Shelter with their new best friend, some adoptions happened from foster homes! Swirly was able to meet his adopter over Zoom and head home right after saying goodbye to his foster family.

Pets of all ages found their Homes for the Pawlidays, including a number of our sweet seniors. At 12 years old, Cheyenne was all smiles at the thought of her next adventure and now with a family to call her own.

While many pets were too excited about heading home to pose for a picture, here are a few of the many animals adopted this month. Thank you to Priority Automotive for helping so many animals find homes this holiday season!
