Woofs & Whiskers: Winter Donation Drive

What do our shelter and community animals want more than anything this holiday season? We encourage you to visit us at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria to find out!
From December 1 through December 23, choose a wish list item from our Pawlidays Wish Tree in our shelter lobby during business hours. Then, shop for the animals’ requested item(s) and drop off your donation at the AWLA any time during the month of December or bring your donation during our “Stocking STUFF Waggin’ Wheels” event on December 23. Stocking Stuff Waggin’ Wheels Event
Revel in the holiday magic and drop off your Pawlidays Wish Tree donation during a special event on Saturday, December 23, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., at the AWLA (4101 Eisenhower Ave., Alexandria) to stuff Waggin’ Wheels full of gifts for our shelter and community’s animals. Bring the whole family to deliver your special wish tree gifts, meet some of our adoptable animals, learn about Waggin’ Wheels, support our volunteer-led bake sale, and take home a special holiday treat.
We will also be hosting a supply drive for ALIVE! on December 23. Along with your gifts for the animals, please consider bringing a few of their most-needed items*:
- Canned protein (tuna, salmon, chicken, peanut butter)
- Soups and stews (beef stew, chili, meat-based soups)
- 100% fruit juices (all sizes)
- Grains (pasta, whole grain pasta, rice, brown rice, boxed macaroni and cheese); cereals (multi-grain, low sugar cereals, oatmeal)
- Canned vegetables
- Canned fruits
- Condiments
- Hygiene products (diapers, toilet paper, tissues, soap, toothpaste)
- *no glass containers, please!
Where to Shop for Your Wish Tree Items
Consider shopping for your Pawlidays Wish Tree gift items at some of our local partner pet stores, including Whole Dogz, The Dog Store, and Pampered Pet Boutique and Barkery. All year long, these stores support our Community Pet Pantry through a partnership to identify much-needed items for our pantry. Find more information on the program and store locations here.
