Fun Dog Show 2023

Presenting the 2023 Fun Dog Show on March 4th in Alexandria, VA, featuring our St. Patrick’s Day costume contest followed by the Ballyshaner’s parade.
We’re back! Join the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria and the Ballyshaners for the annual Fun Dog Show, taking place on Saturday, March 4, at 11:00 a.m. and leading into the Ballyshaner’s Old Town St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This event is free to the public to attend, and the contest has a registration fee for contestants (see below).
On March 4th, the AWLA invites the area’s most spirited pups to don their favorite costumes on-stage at the corner of King and S. Royal St. Canine contestants should arrive no later than 10:45 a.m. to sign in. Register Now
You may register your dog to be a contestant in any or all of these costume categories:
1. Most St. Paddy’s Spirit
2. Best Human/Canine Combo Costume
3. Most Creative
Registration is $25 per entrant per category, and all proceeds from this event benefit the AWLA. Category winners will be determined by audience applause. Onsite registration will also be available for $30 until each category is full.
For the safety of all attendees, canine and human, all dogs must be on non-extendable leashes that are 6 feet or shorter. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a very popular event, and many streets are closed to public parking – please plan accordingly.
While we love all animals, this event is only appropriate for dogs that are comfortable in crowds and with other dogs. Onsite registration will be allowed as long as there is room in each category, but to ensure your pup’s place in the Fun Dog Show, register online today.
