AWLA Thanks Community for Supporting Alexandria Animals Through Adopt-the-Shelter Program

Alexandria, Virginia – The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) recognizes and thanks the generous local businesses, families, and individuals who have stepped up to sponsor spaces throughout the AWLA as part of our Adopt-the-Shelter program.

Through their sponsorships, these community champions are sustaining and enhancing essential programs, like our Community Pet Pantry, which provides pet food and supplies to pet parents in need, and Book Buddies, which fosters literacy and empathy by pairing young readers with shelter animals. Adopting spaces throughout the shelter also funds the daily care of adoptable animals and helps us find loving homes for the animals.

We want to recognize the following people and organizations for sponsoring spaces and programs at the AWLA:

  • Jeremy Earl and Jasmine Ramirez for sponsoring our Community Pet Pantry, which is now named after their two adorable dogs Chunk and Buzz. (Chunk & Buzz Earl-Ramirez Community Pet Pantry)
  • The estate of Shirley-Myers Birch for sponsoring our Community Room (Shirley-Myers Birch Community Room)
  • The Nellis Group for sponsoring our animal adoption board.
  • Happy Cat Hotel Alexandria for sponsoring our Cat Adoption Room.
  • Old Town Books for sponsoring our Book Buddies youth reading program.

“We are incredibly grateful to all of our Adopt-the-Shelter sponsors,” said Chief Executive Officer Stella Hanly. “Their commitment to Alexandria’s animals and people keeps vital programs operational and ensures every animal receives the care, attention, and home they deserve.”

There are opportunities to sponsor smaller spaces, like dog dorms in honor or memory of a family member, friend, or beloved pet. To learn more about our Adopt-the-Shelter program, visit AlexandriaAnimals.org/adopt-the-shelter-program or email development@AlexandriaAnimals.org
