Thank you for participating in our Totally Turtley Art Gallery and helping adoptable turtles at the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria find homes to call their own! We can’t wait to see your turtley awesome art!
Instructions
- Artwork must be turtle-themed!
- Our Art Gallery accepts all media types! We only ask that the artwork does not exceed the size of a turtle! For reference, nothing larger than a 8.5 by 11-inch paper, and if it is a 3D piece of work, nothing larger than a dinner plate (length, width and height).
- We recommend getting creative and using recycled materials you might already have around!
- All artwork must have a gallery tag with the artist’s first name, age and title of the artwork. Please print your gallery tag HERE and attach it to your artwork.
- Artists are encouraged to create their own frames and display stands for their work as well!
- Artwork must be dropped off at the ALWA between Tuesday, December 22, and Sunday, January 3, in order to have your work displayed in the gallery. Artwork can be dropped off between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. any day of the week, though please note that on December 24 and December 31, the AWLA is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; we are closed on December 25 and January 1.
Location: 4101 Eisenhower Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22304
Where: The waterproof container labeled “Totally Turtley Art Gallery” on the benches in front of the building
- Only one piece of artwork can be submitted per artist!
- Please keep in mind the artist name and work has the potential to be displayed on social media and by members of the public. If you would like, you can use an alias name to go by for your work!
- Artwork can also be scanned and submitted electronically through youthprograms@alexandriaanimals.org.
- If you would like to be involved in a virtual opening of the gallery on Friday, January 8, at 5:30 p.m., please RSVP by emailing youthprograms@alexandriaanimals.org.
- Artwork may be deemed inappropriate and not displayed at the discretion of the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria. If your art would be appropriate for school show-and-tell, it would likely be appropriate for the Totally Turtley Art Gallery. If you have any questions, please contact us at youthprograms@alexandriaanimals.org.
The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria will keep any art after its use in the gallery. To request to pick up your artwork after that time, email us at youthprograms@alexandriaanimals.org.
