Veteran’s Day Teen Service Event

Join us for our Veterans Day Volunteer Event on Monday, November 12,  from 9am to noon, open to students aged 13-17.

Students can sign up to work as volunteers focusing on the areas of dogs, cats or small animals. Activities include – but are not limited to – creating enrichment items for animals, cleaning enclosures, delivering treats, organizing supplies and more!

The spots are first-come, first-served, and you will choose dogs, cats, or small animals when registering. Space is limited in each category, so act quickly! A participation fee of $20 per student covers the cost of supplies needed for the service projects.

Upon completion of the Youth Volunteer Day, each student will receive a letter verifying their 3 community service hours.  If you have a specific form for school, please bring it, we’re happy to complete it.

*Please note for this event,

1. All animal interaction is at the discretion of staff. It is not guaranteed that students will work hands on with animals. Our focus is safety for all involved.
2. Students must wear pants and closed-toe shoes for this event.  They will be sent home if they are not dressed appropriately.
3. We will provide water, but not snacks for this event.
4. Students are likely to spend a half an hour outside during this event, please bring the appropriate outerwear.
5. Students will sign a volunteer agreement and a liability waiver, we will send these documents before the event so that you may review them.
6. Parents are welcome to tour the shelter at noon when the shelter opens to the public, but the event is for students only.
7. Have fun while helping animals and doing volunteer work!
