Support the AWLA and Alexandria’s animals in need!
The Vola Lawson Animal Shelter is always in need of supplies and materials. Providing shelter, care and enrichment for thousands of animals every year is no easy task, but donations of items from our Shelter Wish List help us meet every animal’s needs.
We can always use
- Small size dog treats
- Bully sticks
- Catnip
- Clay cat litter
- Feliway refills
- Exercise pens
- Cat/kitten wet food
- Cat food with gravy in cans
- Cat food with gravy in pouches
- KMR (milk formula for kittens/puppies)
- Training/potty pads
- Dog food with gravy
- Chunky dog food with gravy
- Cat toys (wands, feathers, balls, crunchy noise makers, etc.)
- Oxbow pet products (tunnels, bungalows, etc. for small pets)
- Martingale harnesses (any size)
- Mendota Products Slip Leads
- Paper towels
- Plastic storage bags
We also accept unexpired preventatives and dry food.
At this time, we do not have need for the following items:
- Metal crates
- Knit blankets
- Sheets
- Pillows
- Broken or stained items
- Comforters or blankets that are Queen-sized or larger
- Washcloths
- Retractable leashes

AniMEALS – Partnership
We partner with Senior Services of Alexandria to provide donated items that we can not use for our shelter animals to senior citizens in our community who have animals and need assistance with their supplies. Many of these seniors participate in the Meals on Wheels Program.
