Omar may be visually impaired, but it's clearly not impacted his ability to color coordinate. 🤎
Omar is a sweet-natured, cute-as-a-button senior gentleman who forms strong and fast bonds with people. He loves to spend the day curled up in your lap or around your feet. Even though his vision is limited, he navigates his world very well. He has great leash manners and enjoys his strolls.
He's gotten along with other dogs, but may be a smidge picky about his dog pals.
You can meet Omar and all our adoptable animals today until 7 p.m.

This post might seem like an April Fool’s joke on Bently, but it’s not.
Bently is not a bad dog, but we sometimes question his decision-making skills.
You’re probably asking, what’s Bently’s problem? Perhaps he’s pissed off that people keep calling him a “spicy potato” or maybe it's because his parents didn’t fork up the cash for proper orthodontic care. Who knows really.
What we’ve come to understand is that Bently was bestowed with a persnickety personality befitting a Chihuahua. This is in visual contradiction to his exterior angelic (albeit quite quirky) features, which lure in unsuspecting vict … we mean adopters … into thinking he immediately desires their physical touch and affection.
Well the joke would be on you.
The truth is Bently has an inflated sense of superiority and his self-worth is not contingent on your affirmations. Like the Chihuahua that possesses his soul, he is untrusting of everything and everyone initially. However, those who come prepared with Bently’s disarmament codes – aka treats – will quickly realize Bently’s ferocious force field can be breached. As long as you remember, treats > touching until he says otherwise. Seriously, we mean that.
Now that we’ve got that bit out of the way, let’s focus on Bently’s finer attributes. First, Bently LOVES other dogs. He has had numerous playdates with other feisty friends. Honestly, he might benefit from a role model who can act right. He also loves to play fetch. Once he’s deemed you worthy, you will be strongly encouraged to participate in his games.
Once you’re “in” with Bently, you have nothing to worry about. He is loyal, loving and excited to be a part of your life. He’ll even let you pick him up.
We know there is someone for Bently! That special someone will also have free and unlimited access to our Behavior and Training team when questions arise (and arise they shall).
If you too are suspicious of people's intentions, are easily won over by food, and looking for a loyal friend, you and Bently might be the perfect pair. We’re open today until 7 p.m. for adoptions!

No jokes here! We had 91 animals adopted in March, including Little Girl and Cookie who had both been with us for nearly a year.
Thank you to everyone who adopted! Whether you adopted from us in March or before that, we always love to hear how our #alexalumni are doing.
