Paisley

Meet Paisley! Paisley’s story is one that teaches us how a little time and patience can help even the shyest little cat show his true colors!

Paisley came to the AWLA as an extremely frightened little cat, and his previous owners explained that while he loved their cat and dogs, he was terrified of the humans in the house – especially if anyone reached a hand towards him. Being at the shelter was an even more terrifying experience for Paisley – until Esme, one of our Animal Care team, came along. She saw the potential in little Paisley and made sure to spend a little time with him every day, not trying to touch or pet him, but just showing him that her presence was a friendly one. Her patience inspired the rest of the team to start doing the same, and finally, Paisley started to learn that people weren’t so bad after all. He is now living in one of our offices, and making friends with the other office cats in the area. While he is still very shy and skittish, he is gaining confidence every day, and now will sometimes greet his friends with a loud “meow!” and a headbutt!

Paisley has now made enough progress with us that we feel he is ready to continue his good work in a new home. Paisley will need to be adopted into a calm, quiet home that has enough time and patience to dedicate to him, but we promise that the reward will be a lifetime of love and cuddles from this sweet little cat.
