On April 28th, our Animal Welfare League of Alexandria family suffered an incredible loss — Nancy Posey, an AWLA volunteer for over 28 years, passed away. Nancy had welcomed literally thousands of visitors to our shelter with her bright smile and easy laugh which made our front lobby warm and inviting. She loved animals and had a special place in her heart for German Shepherds. She had the ability to calm even the most boisterous dog with her warm presence. We have missed her over the last few months while she was ill and we all are having a difficult time imagining her not returning. AWLA became a better place because of Nancy.
