From this life to this! Marilyn is one of the eleven dogs that we now have that were rescued by HSUS from a horrible situation in Mississippi. These dogs were neglected and suffered from multiple medical issues. When Marilyn arrived at AWLA, she was so frightened that she had been too scared to use the bathroom for many days so her belly was bloated with constipation. Abbie, our Director of Animal Care, moved her into her office to give her a quiet place to de-stress. She quickly scurried under a counter and hid. However, after just a week of the “quiet” life, Marilyn has started coming out from her hiding place, is going to the bathroom (phew!) and, yesterday, Abbie walked into her office and found Marilyn taking a nap on the couch!!!

UPDATE: Marilyn was adopted in January 2015.
